Tigers resumed Saturday’s match at 3-73 in a good position to hunt down Rugby’s total of 184 but ORC came up just 34 runs shy of the mark.
On a tough day at the crease very few of the Tigers were able to capitalise on their starts.
Ricky Webb picked up three boundaries on his way to a hard earned 21 in the middle order.
He received few supporters along the way and by the time he was out ORC had fallen to 9-119.
However, number 10 batsman Charlie Coggan wasn’t going to die wondering as he began pummelling the Rugby attack around the ground.
Coggan’s quick blast came to a close at 27 when his stumps were rattled by an Aiden McBurney delivery.
Rugby’s Jeremy Thackray (3-78) was kept busy with the ball over 29 overs. McBurney finished with leading figures of 3-23.
Rugby went back into bat following their first innings win and witnessed Chris Albon (74) and Imran Qureshi (72) deliver explosive performances with the willow. The team ended the day at 5-187.
“ORC batted really well but I thought our bowling and fielding was really strong. We kept ORC under pressure all day,” Rugby’s Jameel Qureshi said.
“The win keeps our momentum going and the key for us is to try and get a win over Bathurst City next win to make sure it doesn’t stop.
“Redbacks will be a great test. They’re at the top of the table for a reason.”
