Starting at barrier seven, Mathew Cahill will be in the saddle for the bay filly. 

Bathurst trainer Dean Mirfin said Jetgirl recovered well from her first start and is happy to back her up again in the Central West Electrical Maiden Plate (1100 metres). 

“I think she did well during the week, so I’m looking forward to seeing her run again,” he said.

Regardless of where Jetgirl finishes, the filly will be set for a spell.

“She’s only a young horse. The breed by a horse called Nicconi, they are a breed that tends to be a bit more on the fragile side,” he said. 

“I’ll give her a break after Monday and bring her back in six weeks.”

Mirfin will have another starter from Nicconi – Winterconi – who will start from barrier 11 in the Panorama Business and Financial Maiden Handicap (1400 metres).

Her last start was a second place at Bathurst on February 11. 

“She’s a year older than Jetgirl, so she’s taken time to mature,” he said.

“Her run the other day was absolutely terrific. I was really happy with her run and she’s trained well through the last week.

“I think the wide barrier will help her, instead of number one. She’s a bit slow at the start of the race and takes a few strides to wind up.”

Mirfin has another two starters on Monday – Repentant, over 1200 metres, and Keymaster, over 1400 metres.
