Road racing has been absent from the club’s calendar for almost eight weeks due to organising issues, with the break normally two to three weeks long over Christmas.
However, Sunday’s racing was deemed a success by the club’s racing coordinator Glen Partridge.
“Everyone was wrapped to be back. We had been waiting for approval from the council and RMS,” he said.
“As soon as we got the okay, we schedule the racing as soon as possible.
“The event ran smooth, with no problems. Everyone walked away with a smile on their face. A great day was had by all.
“It’s not just the racing but the social aspect that makes the event so enjoyable.”
The 46 kilometre course started at Perthville Hall at 9am and went out to Ryans Road, at The Lagoon, Cows Flat, Georges Plain and Newbridge.
Richard Hobson took out the final placing in A grade.
Daniel Went claimed B grade ahead of Stuart Renshaw in second and Nathan Maher in third.
Peter Wilson claimed C grade, with Jill Harris and Rob Stephen finishing second and third respectively.
Gemma Carter and Cath Adams went one and two respectively in D grade.
Partridge said he was impressed by B grader Maher.
“It was a big improvement from Nathan Maher,” he said.
“He’s done a heap of training. We didn’t expect him to stand out but he rode really well.
“Credit to him, he’s been doing the miles and when you do the miles you get the rewards.

“Obviously Will and Josh have been going hard as well, as they’re with their GPM team.
“There’s also plenty of us doing the miles for the Blayney to Bathurst. A few of the older faces are going for the UCI Grand Fondo qualifier.”
This Sunday will also be the club’s Criterium Championships, with the event to be held at Sulman Park at Mount Panorama.
Usually the club holds the championships on Australia Day but this was not possible in January because of other events at Mount Panorama.
“Hopefully we can get a good turnout and generate some interest,” Partridge said.
D grade starts at 9am, C grade at 9.30am, B grade at 10.15am and A grade at 11am.
In preparation for the championships, a practice race will be available on Tuesday evening at Sulman Park, at 6pm.
