Sofala Show president Ash Miller said the area got 15 millimetres when the dark clouds rolled in at the start of the week.
“And if we get a shower on Saturday, that will dampen the dust and cool things down on Sunday,” he said.
Mr Miller said the aim for those behind the annual show is simple: to provide an affordable, family-friendly event with a little bit of something for everyone.
“It’s a short, sharp show, from 9am to about 3pm, but there’s a lot on in that six hours,” he said.
Attractions this year, he said, will include the traditionally large horse section, the sheep dog trials, show dogs, “chock-a-block” pavilions, laser tag, horizontal bungee and jumping inflatables for the kids, sideshow alley and helicopter rides.
Entry will be $10 for adults and free for children and the main opening of the show will be at around midday.
