Jeffrey Thomas Hill, 33, of Macquarie Street, Dubbo, appeared before magistrate Michael Allen in Bathurst Local Court in relation to a theft which occurred in Dubbo and a break and enter in Bathurst.
Police facts tendered to the court told how the victim in Dubbo parked his car in the driveway on February 11 last year and locked it.
According to the police facts, the accused entered the premises, used a wood chisel to pry the window down and ransacked the compartments of the vehicle.
Hill located a stubby holder with about $40 in $2 coins in the car and the victim’s wallet, which included a number of bank cards, a driver’s licence and $70, according to the police facts.
The accused left the location, leaving the chisel and the side door of the car ajar.
The victim woke the next day, saw the car window was down and the door was ajar and noticed the compartments open and the contents of the glove box all over the floor.
Fingerprints were taken by police, which were later identified as belonging to the accused.
The second charge related to a break, enter and steal in Bathurst in February 2015.
The court heard the victim left his Hill Street unit secured and locked, but after arriving home, saw the front door was open and the door and frame were hanging loose.
The victim entered the unit and noticed a number of items missing from around the TV unit, including a WII U console, Xbox console and 37 games.
A number of international coins were also missing, as well as a collectable bottle of Bundaberg Rum. Crime scene police attended and took a number of fingerprints, later identified as belonging to the accused Jeffrey Thomas Hill.
On the first charge, Hill was jailed for six months from December 18, 2017 and will be eligible for parole on June 17, 2018.
On the break and enter, he was convicted and jailed for 12 months with eight months non-parole from December 18, 2017.
