Bulls are currently 8.05 points outside the top four but a first innings win with bonus points or an outright win may just be enough to help push the fifth placed team into the top four.
While third placed St Pat’s Old Boys and fourth placed City Colts playing each other the same day, Bulls will have to be 100 per cent concentrated against ORC if they want to play finals.
Skipper Andrew Brown is hoping his side can carry their strong momentum – two first grade wins in their past three games and a win in the Royal Hotel Cup semi-final – into a vital game.
“It doesn’t matter who loses out of [Saints and Colts] but as long as get a heap of bonus points [then can we make finals],” he said.
“Everyone’s on a high after two weeks of great cricket, with our last start win, which is good. We’ve got a fair bit of momentum going.
“We’ll try and play the same attacking style of cricket.
“It’ll be a hard game though. [ORC] will be up for it.”
Brown said his team needs to be all-round consistent across the two-day game if he and his Bulls’ teammates want to play semi-finals come March.
“Everything has got to go to well – we need to bowl well, bat well. There’s no point doing one half of the job. You’ve got to do the complete to get the win,” he said.
Bulls will be without Josh Toole for the first day of action, with Dallas Tilley to cover for the Bulls’ best batsman for the 2017-18 season.
Toole is expected to return for day two.
Saturday’s game between Bulls and Tigers will be played at the Bathurst Sportsground, with the game starting at 1.30pm.
