There had been concern in the lead-up to the long-running group’s AGM on Tuesday that it would have to fold because the “tired, long-standing committee” needed new blood.
Contrary to expectations, there was a good attendance of women and men at the AGM and all positions were filled, the group’s John Trollor said.
“BDPCSG will continue to serve men with this commonest cancer in men and their families by raising awareness of the disease, by providing information about testing and all stages of investigation and treatment as well as sharing our wealth of experience in this cancer which is so helpful when one is on this journey,” he said.
“Support for the peak body for research and support, the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, Daffodil Cottage and like community groups will continue.”
Mr Trollor said men and women are welcome to attend the group’s meetings in Daffodil Cottage on the third Tuesday of each month at 4pm for tea and a chat and 5pm for a guest speaker.
“The next meeting will be on March 20 when there will be a general discussion on prostate cancer,” he said.
