WHEN Parade was still at school, Clean Up Australia Day was always an important event on the calendar.

She recalls every single student participating in the day, at both primary and high school.
Parade would never realise how much rubbish littered these schools until it came to this day, but suddenly all the smallest bits of paper and food packaging became noticeable.
It would be a hard afternoon of work, but each student could walk away from it knowing they had helped take a little pressure off the local environment.
Unlike school, though, you can’t enforce Clean Up Australia Day on adults and it is a bit of a shame.
That is why Parade is pleased to have seen people taking the time out of their weekend to pick up rubbish around Bathurst.
Their hard work was part of a nation-wide effort, and that is something those people can be proud of.
AN ODD CONVOY OF CARAVANS
IT’S not often you come across a convoy of caravans, but that’s exactly what Parade happened across on her way home on Friday.
Parade was heading up Bradwardine Road when she spotted a caravan and the car towing it parked on the side of the road by the Living Legends trees.
As she got further up the hill and around the bend, she realised there was another five or six parked behind it.
Parade uses this road often and has never seen a single caravan parked there before, so it was quite a surprise to see so many.
DON’T MISS OUT ON BEAUTIFUL BLOOMS
BEGONIA House is one of Bathurst’s best kept secrets, and that is largely due to the fact it is only open a few weeks out of every year.
Parade is pleased to say that we are in the middle of its open season right now.
The begonias have been carefully tended to and are looking amazing.
Anyone who wants to take a look can visit Begonia House on weekdays between 9am and 4pm and on weekends between 11am and 3pm.
It will be open until the end of April.
