That will be the opportunity available to those who attend the Bathurst Hospital Auxiliary Fete this Saturday.

Starting at 9am and running to 1pm in front of the Heritage Building on the hospital grounds, the fete will feature a barbecue, craft and white elephant stalls, devonshire teas, cakes, fresh produce, raffles, jams, cold drinks, books, plants and entertainment for children.

And the best thing?

All money raised at the fete will be used to buy equipment for Bathurst Base Hospital.

Bathurst Hospital Auxiliary president Jill Mitchell told Parade this week that the auxiliary has received a wish list of items that could be bought with the funds raised.

“The requests have come from most departments within the health facility, including many of the community and allied health areas,” she said.

“Requests have been for smaller necessary items across the facility. These come to a total of around $46,000. Proceeds from the fete will help fund these purchases.”

AND now from a fete to meeting up with a crafty mate.

The members of Rankin Cottage, Parade is told, find crafting can be a solitary pursuit, but enjoy getting together with like-minded people.

So they are inviting the clever, creative people of Bathurst to bring along a craft project to the cottage from 10.30am to 1pm this Sunday.

Those who come along can sit and do their craft or can just take the opportunity to have a bit of a chat if they choose.

Rankin Cottage, a co-operative of local creative people that is run by volunteers, was formed in 1985 to sell local crafts.

The cottage is opposite the Bathurst RSL Club.
