The Bureau of Meteorology is tipping the mercury to rise to 33 degrees Celsius on Saturday and go even higher on Sunday with a forecast top of 34.
That would come within striking distance of Bathurst’s hottest March day on record – 35.1 degrees back in 1998.
And nights aren’t expected to bring much relief from the sweltering conditions with the forecast minimum on Sunday almost double the long-term average.
Bathurst’s long-term average minimum for March is 10.5 degrees but the temperature is not expected to drop below 18 overnight on Saturday.
No rain is predicted for the next week.
