Hodge entered into enemy territory on Friday, donning some St Patrick's Day green in a Irish pub to promote Australia's June Test series against Six Nations champions and current world No.2 Ireland.

The Irish can claim just their third grand slam in over 100 years with victory over England this weekend.

It is the first time the countries have ever squared off over three Tests, the series opening in Brisbane on June 9, followed by Saturday games in Melbourne and Sydney.

"It's going to be massive," said utility back Hodge.

"Obviously you've seen the success Ireland's had in the Six Nations and they're playing some great footy and their fans are getting behind them.

"I'm pretty sure they will be confident coming here and playing us, having beaten us last time."

Hodge is hoping to win selection alongside his Melbourne teammate Will Genia, with the pair integral to the Rebels' unbeaten start to the Super Rugby season.

Genia, 30, has been in vintage form, enjoying the time and space he's found behind Melbourne's big and mobile forwards.

Hodge, who has been playing at inside centre, said he was enjoying the service he was getting from the 88-Test veteran.

"Will's a class player and he's obviously experienced so much," Hodge said.

"You can draw a comparison with Tom Brady in ... why would he stop now when he knows exactly what the defence is going to do and when he's best placed mentally and strategically to succeed in the game and I think that's what you're seeing with Will."

Brady has won five Superbowls with New England and continues to dominate as a 40-year-old.
