Extra time was needed to decide a winner after the game finished 4-all at the end of regulation.
Falls Deep scored on their opening set in the drop off and when All Saints couldn’t find a reply the game ended at 5-4.
“We played them two weeks ago and it was 10-3, so it was a much closer game in the final,” winning player Jakiya Whitfeld said.
“They were missing one of their stronger players the game before so we knew it was going to be a much tougher game.
“It was pretty close the whole time. We got to start with the ball at the drop off. On the fifth play we scored, then they had one chance to score.
“We pressured them well and on their possession they put it out over the sideline.
“It was a really good win for us because we only had the one sub and they had a lot.”
Whitfeld said it was a great way to end what had been a fun season for the team.
“A few of the girls hadn’t played before this year. We’re all just a group of friends who really enjoy playing together,” she said.
The under 16s girls final was one of many closely contested finals across last week’s deciding matches.
Once again the Monday men’s A grade decider turned out to be a cracker, pitting the competition’s two strongest offensive units against one another.
JBC21 Anytime Fitness won the grand final 7-5 over Botham Homes to complete an unbeaten season.
Given their impressive regular season record Hothams Kings were always going to be the team to beat in the Monday mixed finals series.
Fancy A Quick Tag tried their best to stop the favourites but came up just short of pulling off the underdog success in a 5-3 scoreline.
Wednesday’s finals also provided their share of big thrills.
The mixed final pitted Kings Hotel against The Brush.
Kings Hotel hadn’t tasted defeat throughout the season and they weren’t going to let their guard down in the final.
Just a matter of weeks after beating The Brush it was another success for Kings Hotel to the tune of 7-3.
Another drop off was needed to decide the winner of the men’s final, and it provided one of the day’s upset results.
Blatchy’s Smash Repairs had won every single match of the regular season and had one more game to win for the title.
Their opponents were Central West Electrical Contractors, the team who had come closest to ending their perfect season record.
However, CWEC won 7-6 to make up for their one point loss earlier in the season.
