FAMILIES will have fewer chances to experience Fun Theatre for the Very Young, but that doesn’t mean the quality of the show will be any less thrilling.

Fun Theatre was developed by Kathy Cameron many years ago to encourage an appreciation of theatre from a very young age.
“I feel that if you have an enjoyable experience with the theatre when you’re very young, you are more likely to be comfortable going to the theatre when you’re an adult,” she said.
In 2017, the program was financially supported by Regional Arts NSW, which enabled it to run weekly.
However, there is no funding available for the project this year, so the number of public shows has been reduced to one every term.
“The funding ended last year and my colleague, Nell Kentish, and I decided we would still continue to have Fun Theatre for the Very Young,” Ms Cameron said.
The first public show will be held on Sunday, March 25 at the Country Women’s Association (CWA) hall on Russell Street at 11am.
Ms Cameron and Ms Kentish will be performing a play called ‘Teddy goes Camping’.
This is an interactive show, where children can join the story if they want.
The show costs $5 per child, with babies and accompanying adults able to come along for free.
Fun Theatre will be visiting preschools throughout the rest of the year.
“The educators really appreciate this style of performance and that we are giving their children that experience with theatre,” Ms Cameron said.
Any preschools that want to book a show can call Ms Cameron on 0413 681 858.
