Held on Wednesday night at The George Hotel, the event was attended by more than 60 people who came along to learn from the Mitchell Conservatorium’s experts.
Executive director at the conservatorium, Graham Sattler, was the man behind the event and the chosen song was The Beatles’ hit Hey Jude.
The event called for everyone to come along, with or without experience, grab a drink at the bar and then participants would rehearse, relax and perform all on the one night.
“It was fabulous and people were really ready to sing, there was no hesitation,” he said.

“There was a real diversity in the audience, there were people form 18 to their 70s.”
Mr Sattler said the final rendition of the song was very moving.
“There’s something about harmonies that just go straight to the heart,” he said.
“It was a real pop choral sound that they made, it was quite beautiful.”
Mr Sattler said before the event had even finished, he had already received numerous requests for it to be held again.
“It was a great community event and it will definitely happen again,” he said.
Plans are already well underway to organise regular PUBlic Choir events.
