From the Bathurst Farmers’ Markets and Sustainable Living Expo at the Bathurst Showground on Saturday to the open day at the historic Macquarie property at O’Connell, also on Saturday, to the Melanoma March on Sunday, there is no shortage of opportunities to get out of the house.
(And that’s not to mention the pro wrestling which will be held at Bathurst Panthers on Saturday night.)
The biggest question is how to fit it all in.
He’s looking for Tasker relatives
PARADE was contacted this week by author Barry Ross, who has a book coming out on the history of rugby at Sydney’s Newington College.
As part of his research, Mr Ross – who readers might remember for his rugby league commentary work with Rex “Moose” Mossop – has looked at the life of former Newington student and Wallaby William Tasker.
Because it is 100 years this year since Tasker was killed in France, Newington is going to honour him with a special Anzac Day service and the college wants to invite any of his descendants to attend.
Tasker (born in Condobolin in 1891) was a western NSW boy, so Mr Ross is spreading the net wide in looking for descendants.
Mr Ross can be contacted on (02) 9522 4941 (home), 0400 796 959 or by email at bross@bigpond.net.au
