For the first time, Foxtel’s Fox Sports channel will air the race live on Sunday.
The race joins the broadcaster’s varied motor sport coverage, which includes every round of the Supercars Championship, NASCAR and Formula 1.
“Motor sports are key in our focus at Fox Sports, part of our DNA,” Fox Sports’ Head of Television, Steve Crawley, said. “Being able to present the Bathurst 1000 without any ad-breaks this year is a big deal for motor sport fans. And now a further bonus: the Bathurst 6 Hour begins on Easter Sunday and fans will be able to watch it all on Fox Sports.”
As with the previous two events, international audiences will be able to tune into the race via the Bathurst 6 Hour website, while all of Sunday’s support category races will be able to be streamed both in Australia and overseas.
A full replay of the coverage will be available to view to all audiences on the website from the early hours of Monday morning.
Mayor Graeme Hanger said the extra coverage will put more eyes on Bathurst and encourage them to find out more about the city.
“Mount Panorama is the iconic home of motor sports in Australia, but it is also home to more a diverse range of sporting and community events throughout the year,” he said
“The chance to drive the circuit is also on the list of must-dos for thousands of visitors to the region each year. The promotion of Mount Panorama creates an international profile for Bathurst and the surrounding region, building on our visitor economy.
“While motoring may provide the initial introduction to our city for many visitors, they soon discover that there is much more to explore and discover.
“Coverage of the racing action on Fox Sports will increase exposure for both the event and for the promotion of Bathurst and the Mount Panorama circuit. It can only be of benefit for both the event and the promotion of visitation to Bathurst and the region.”
