Each year, Bathurst Bulldogs hosts a day of matches against its big rivals, the Orange Emus, while remembering past players and raising money for charity.
In the evening, players and the community can retire to the clubhouse at Ashwood Park.
One aspect of the night will be remembering players that have died.
Club president Greg Reid said Ode to the Fallen was created years ago and a new verse added each time a player dies.
"We lost two life members in the last 12 months, Ken Laird and Sandy 'The Rock' Robinson, so there will be two new verses on the night," he said.
It will be performed by Brian 'Robs' Roberson.
The other aspect of Dogs Memorial Day will be an auction of jerseys worn by the players on Saturday.
The memorial day is during the Central West Indigenous round and Bulldogs players will wear specially designed jerseys for it.
In the past, some jerseys have sold for more than $1000.
"People are really generous in spirit and in donating," Mr Reid said.
Fifty per cent of the proceeds will go to Carenne School and Glenray Industries, which recently had its commercial laundry destroyed by fire.
The first game will kick off at 11am on Saturday.
Events at the clubhouse will be held from 7pm.
