Marathon Health, the lead agency for headspace Bathurst, is a registered charity that works to deliver accessible health services for regional areas.
The development of the facility is part of a whole-of-community approach ensuring quality social infrastructure exists to support accessible health services, outside of the purely clinical setting.
This is a great outcome for our community, providing access to essential services for those who need them most.
Business Leaders Lunch
ALMOST 70 representatives attended the Business Leaders Lunch that was held recently. The function focused on council’s Smart City initiative.
Becoming a Smart City is all about innovative ways to improve liveability, productivity and sustainability.
Under this plan, council is investing in projects such as a CBD Wi-Fi network, CCTV, Smart Street lighting and the Upstairs start-up hub.
Stemming from this, we hope to create more jobs, attract more investment and place Bathurst on the radar as a centre for innovation.

Travel times to be slashed under our highway plan
EXCITING plans were announced this week for the duplication of 30 kilometres of the Great Western Highway between Katoomba and Forty Bends, which will provide a safe and efficient link between the Central West and the Sydney motorway network.
The plan also includes the long-awaited bypassing of Blackheath and Mount Victoria in the Blue Mountains, which will make our roads safer while slashing travel times.
It is estimated that these upgrades will reduce travel times by around 30 minutes.
The announcement also includes the immediate upgrade of the Great Western Highway between Kelso and Raglan, with 3.5 kilometres of duplication to Bathurst airport, easing traffic congestion during major events and the holiday season.
Transport Minister Andrew Constance also acknowledged the tunnels to be widened through the Blue Mountains for new trains to Lithgow, servicing the people of the greater Central West.
This region will also be the first to take part in a community-based integrated freight and transport plan which will improve connectivity with the Central West.
Volunteer of the Year Awards
THOUSANDS of people from across the Bathurst electorate readily volunteer their time each year to help others without asking for anything in return.
Volunteers are committed to supporting important local causes, including young people, families in need, the environment and people with a disability.
They’re at the centre of our community and help make it the caring, compassionate and kind-hearted place we all know.
While their social contribution is immeasurable, recent analysis from the Productivity Commission values their economic contribution at more than $5 billion each year across NSW.
A great way to give something back to all our amazing volunteers is to say thank you by nominating them for the 2018 NSW Volunteer of the Year Awards.
The awards are organised by the Centre for Volunteering and are the largest formal celebration of volunteering in Australia.
You can nominate your neighbours, colleagues or family members for one of seven award categories.
Nominations close on Friday, July 13. To nominate your volunteers, go to www.volunteering.com.au.
