It was the first skills session that was held in Bathurst, after last weekend’s was cancelled due to rain.
Blunt Side Sk8 Park Tours founder Ricky Konza said it doesn’t matter about who you are when it comes to action sports, rather how much fun you have.
“We were teaching kids how to ride and what we’re looking for when we judge in competitions,” he said.
“They’ve got to first win in the mind before they can on the board, or the bike or scooter.”
Bathurst is set to host another skills session next Saturday before the inaugural Bluntside Skatepark Series in Bathurst on September 16.
This is the inaugural year of the competition, which was developed to encourage more young people in regional areas to get involved in action sports.
Bathurst will be the second stop of the series, which will start in Manildra on September 9 and will also visit Cowra, Parkes, Orange, Dubbo, Young, Millthorpe and Mudgee.
When the competition comes to Bathurst, there will be open categories for men and women, a 16 years and under mixed category and a 12 years and under mixed category.
Mr Konza is hoping to see the same kids and even some new faces at the next skills session on Saturday, September 8, from 11am to 2pm, before the series the following weekend, on Sunday, September 16.
