The vote for the position was held at council’s September ordinary meeting on Wednesday night at the civic centre.
No other councillor challenged Cr Bourke for the position.
He will continue to serve alongside mayor Graeme Hanger, a leadership pairing that began after the September 9 local government election in 2017.
Cr Bourke has been on council for 14-years and had never held a position higher than that of councillor until last year.
Prior to the election, he said he had enjoyed the responsibility that came with being deputy mayor and he felt he had the support of the other councillors to continue in the role.
