Representatives of the club arrived with $500 worth of toys and $500 in vouchers, including for Metro Cinemas and Target, to be given out to children and older teens who would otherwise not be getting anything this Christmas.
“We have had another great year and we figure that we should be sharing that with families that are doing it tough,” Bathurst RSL marketing manager Janneke van der Sterren said.
And the delivery was timely, according to the Salvos’ Lisa Kilby.
“At the end of the first week of giving out toys, we were running quite low,” she said.
“We were actually out of toys for the eight to 14-year-old age group.
“We are very humbled to be that go-between between the RSL and the public to be able to help as many children as we can.”
Ms Kilby said registrations will be taken from Monday to Friday next week at the Salvation Army Bathurst Family Store in Keppel Street for those who are doing it tough this Christmas.
