DECEMBER 1: St Stanislaus’ College students were urged to stay away from school as Bathurst police investigated a threatening text sent to students. Police cleared students, who sent an email between each other, of any wrongdoing and said it appeared the accounts were hacked.

DECEMBER 3: Bathurst cyclist Mark Renshaw was hit by a car while training in Bathurst, an incident which left him with a fracture of his left pelvis. It meant that Renshaw would miss out on racing in Adelaide’s Tour Down Under, as well as being ruled out of the Australian National Road Championships in early January.
DECEMBER 5: Bathurst native Kyle Fulmer was crowned the World Boxing Federation Women’s Intercontinental Super Bantamweight world champion, at the Big Punch Arena in Tijuana. She defeated Mexican rival Dulce Galaviz.
DECEMBER 6: A trip to Sydney could be just two and half hours by train under the latest fast rail plan to be proposed by the NSW Government. Deputy Premier John Barilaro said $4.6 million had been allocated from the Snowy Hydro Fund to also start investigating potential fast rail links to Sydney’s north, southern inland and southern coastal areas.
DECEMBER 7: Wiradyuri people were joined on Mount Panorama by Bathurst’s Greens councillor John Fry and a special guest, Greens MP David Shoebridge, as the debate for a go-kart track at Mount Panorama continues.
DECEMBER 8: The owner of the Kelso FoodWorks supermarket – Praba Kulasegaram – increased his stake in the suburb's future by buying the entire Kelso Centrepoint complex. Mr Kulasegaram wasted no time since buying over a month ago, investing in new lights, plans to install CCTV inside and out and wants to open two new businesses.
DECEMBER 11: Bathurst councillor Alex Christian labelled the Inland Sea of Sound as the “Inland Sea of Frowns” after being unimpressed by what was otherwise touted as a great event.
DECEMBER 13: Bathurst entered a new age of public transport, with the official launch of the Uber ride-sharing service. The ride-sharing service, which is currently used by nearly 4 million people throughout Australia, aimed to diversify the public transport sector in Bathurst.

DECEMBER 13: The Railway Hotel entered a new era, opening its doors for the first time in six months. The historic Bathurst hotel is now under new ownership, with owners Geraldine Williams and Gavin Schumacher purchasing the venue in August.
DECEMBER 14: All Saints’ College has signed off its 144-year history with outstanding results in the 2018 Higher School Certificate. The school recorded one of its strongest ever HSC results to be ranked 104th in the state and first across the Central West. Charles O’Neill was the standout performer, picking up Band 6 results in chemistry, advanced English, mathematics extension 1 and modern history for an estimated Australian Tertiary Admission Rank of 99.4.
DECEMBER 17: Bathurst junior Todd McCarthy won the 2018 Pacing Inter Dominion Championship Grand Final with Tiger Tara at Melton Park, with Bathurst driver Anthony Frisby in the gig as Our Uncle Sam finished second. Frisby’s father Chris, who trains Our Uncle Sam, said the support his team got was “phenomenal”.
DECEMBER 20: Bathurst Gardeners’ Club resolved to write to Bathurst Regional Council in the hope that the two parties can meet to discuss the water restrictions currently imposed on Bathurst. President of the club, Chris Bayliss, said that there didn’t appear to be much “lead up at all” to water restrictions, criticising the decision to impose water restrictions.
DECEMBER 21: Modifications to the original go-kart track design were given the green light at an extraordinary meeting of Bathurst Regional Council. Their decision followed an intense public forum, which gave people one last chance to have their say. In the end only councillors John Fry and Monica Morse voted against the proposal.
DECEMBER 28: In a Shirley Turnbull Memorial field packed with recent Inter Dominion Pacing Championship contenders, plus a New Zealand star, it was Brad Hewitt and his gelding Our Triple Play that came out on top in the $50,000 Group 2 feature. Our Triple Play, a $31 chance, made a perfectly timed run down the outside of the track after spending most of the 2,790-metre race tucked away three back on the pegs.
DECEMBER 29: An 18-year-old driver involved in a fatal Wattle Flat car crash was charged with a string of driving offences. The woman was driving a Holden Commodore which hit a tree on the outskirts of Warrle Flat on October 12. A 13-year-old female passenger critically injured in the crash and died 11 days later in the Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
DECEMBER 31: Bathurst political figures promised a 2019 of big projects coming to fruition in the city. Bathurst MP Paul Toole’s vision is to make the electorate a place where more families want to settle.
