Fourteen of the college's agriculture students have put themselves forward to be involved in the competition, which aims to identify young leaders in rural Australia.

"These boys had to produce a cover letter and resume, supported by referees, just to be considered for this event," cattle team co-ordinator Alex Clements said.

They each recently faced a panel and were interviewed by Jack Edwards of Pasture Genetics, Trish Arrow of Oak Farm Truffles and Stannies head of college Dr Anne Wenham.

"The boys were questioned about their knowledge of local, state and federal politics, their involvement in agriculture currently, their intentions and involvement for the upcoming Bathurst Show and their future hopes and aspirations," Ms Clements said.

"We wish the boys well in their pursuit of the title and look forward to seeing them in action on May 3 to 5 at the Royal Bathurst Show.

"If you visit the show, keep an eye out. Our team will be actively involved in exhibiting livestock and produce as well as volunteering their services where and whenever required to support the show committee."

The Young Rural Achievers competition, run by the Royal Bathurst Show, enables young people under the age of 25 to meet those who are like-minded, network with industry professionals and promote opportunities in agriculture.

Competitors in the competition are also required to be prepared to volunteer across various sections of the Royal Bathurst Show.

The Stannies competitors, representing Years7 through to 12, are Reece Webster, Jayden Falcke, Antony Ajji, Lochie Kelly, Angus Cooke, Will van Gend, Deykyn Hayley, Bill McDonnell, Jake Webster, Jack Nisbet, Angus Forsyth, Jack Heffernan, Lachlan Melchers and Tom Best.
