Let's talk about your health, doctor says to regional women

Dr Kelly Teagle, a general practitioner based in Canberra who specialises in women's health, will be in Bathurst as part of a series of seminars being held in regional NSW.

Dr Teagle is the founder of WellFemme, which she says allows "women living in remote areas to speak privately with a doctor via their phone, mobile device or computer about their perimenopausal issues".

"Women are offered evidence-based advice to treat symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, mood disturbances, muscle pains, sexual problems and urinary issues," she said.

Dr Teagle said she is "concerned that many women in rural and remote areas with debilitating menopausal symptoms simply can't access the help they need".

The program is subsidised by a funding grant during its pilot phase to reduce out-of-pocket costs for clients in rural and remote areas.

A 45-minute WellFemme consultation includes a comprehensive medical and lifestyle assessment, treatment recommendations and a written report for clients to share with their GP, Dr Teagle said.

Dr Teagle will hold a series of free menopause seminars in regional towns, including in Bathurst, Cowra, Forbes, Grenfell and Young, to "kickstart the conversations we need to have about menopause", including safe and effective treatments.

The seminar in Bathurst will be held at Panthers Bathurst on Friday, July 12 at 5.30pm.
