Alex, 17, was was among thousands of fans who flocked to Mount Panorama on Saturday to take in the action and meet a few of the Bathurst 1000 drivers.
"I've taken a liking to Cam, he's a great young fellow," Alex said after the meeting.
"I was talking to him about how in the qualifying lap he had engine issues, but he still got into the top 10."
This was Alex's first year of camping at the iconic Mount and he said he's definitely been converted after staying at the Bathurst Hilton campsite this week.
"I've come with family before, but this is the first time on my own," he said.
