World-renowned media executive Owen Franks has been named as the recipient of the 2019 Kelso High Campus Decade Award for excellence in his chosen field.

Mr Franks, who is currently the head of Asia Pacific at global news network TicToc by Bloomfield, graduated from Kelso High in 1990, before completing an honours degree in political science and government at the University of Sydney.
Currently based in Hong Kong, Mr Franks has previously worked for the BBC and Al Jazeera across the United Kingdom, Qatar and the United States.
Mr Franks is the third in his family to receive the award, after his sister Alison [1997] and brother Ashley [2018].
The Decade Award was introduced in 1997 by former teacher Hans Stroeve to recognise Kelso High graduates who have gone on to achieve outstanding success in their career.
Other notable recipients include Dr Kate Smith, Gavin Coles, and Janelle Lindsay.
