A 21-year-old man has been airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney in a serious condition following a boat explosion near Mookerawa Waters Holiday Park, just outside Stuart Town, on Tuesday morning.

Three NSW Ambulance crews were called to the scene after receiving reports of a boat explosion and fire just after 10.30am on Australia Day, with the Westpac Rescue Helicopter also tasked to the incident to assist.
NSW Ambulance paramedics and the Helicopter Critical Care Medical Team treated the patient for significant burns to his legs, arms and face.

Still in a serious condition, he was then transported to Royal North Shore Hospital to receive specialist treatment at the burns unit.
A fuel fire was being queried as the potential cause for the incident, which also left another man suffering from smoke inhalation.
The 31-year-old man was reportedly conveyed to Orange Hospital.
