The store was recently purchased by Ashcroft's IGA Tuckerbag.
New co-owners Ian Ashcroft - who owns the Orange IGA Tuckerbag store - and Tony Mogg - who will be based full-time in Bathurst -have committed at least $700,000 to upgrading the store.
"The store was probably going to be closed ... it's been let run down over several years, but we want to instil our experience to give the public another option in supermarkets in Bathurst," Mr Ashcroft said.
There had been no reinvestment in the store for seven or eight years.
"We know what the potential is and how great the store used to be, we believe there's an opportunity for customers who don't want to go into shopping centres," Mr Ashcroft said.
The refurbishment, which will give the store a new look and layout (see What's In Store) will commence on September 13.
Mr Ashcroft said the convenient car parking compared to underground shopping centres car parks, and full supermarket range, would appeal to customers.
