'Booklink 2003' is a program aimed at encouraging children in Bathurst and the surrounding area to read.
The program runs from December until July next year.
Children are divided into separate age groups and are encouraged to read and record as many books as possible to win a number of prizes.
Outreach program officer at Bathurst City Library Aniko Koro said the program is a good way to encourage children to brush up on their literacy skills.
"The aim of the program is to get as many children as possible to come to the library and read as much as they possibly can,” she said.
"The more books the children read, the more opportunity they have to win prizes.”
Ms Koro said the program was hugely successful last year, attracting over 500 readers.
"I'm sure it will attract just as many this year as well because the children know that they can get something good out of it,” she said.
