All of those allegedly involved in the manufacture and supply of amphetamines who sought bail were refused by magistrate Thomas Hodgson who said amphetamines were prevalent in Bathurst and the community had to be protected.
Briefs of evidence were ordered by Mr Hodgson to be served by August 25 for replies by September 8 in all seven cases heard separately yesterday at the Bathurst Court House.
Police allegedly discovered precursors used to manufacture ecstasy as well as large amounts of amphetamines some of the accused allegedly had in their possession, supplying on an ongoing basis as they allegedly conspired together at addresses in Bathurst.
The exception was a raid on a rural property where Stephen Michael Freeman, 50, was alleged to have been found growing cannabis, 38 plants ranging from seedlings to one foot tall.
Freeman is facing 12 charges related to the alleged cultivation and possession of cannabis and possession of a precursor to manufacture amphetamines.
Six of the charges against Freeman, one of the few people charged in Operation Croppa to get bail, relate to the alleged discovery of a rifle, shotgun and ammunition on his property, allegedly unregistered firearms and bullets not kept safe and kept without the authority of a licence or permit.
John Phillip Bright, 23, is alleged to have conspired with Sonia Loretta Scott, 38, Patrick Richard Kerr, 34, Matthew John Oakford, 36 and Steven John Schofield, 28 to supply amphetamines together between May 18 and July 4.
Bright, of O’Connell Place, Bathurst appeared handcuffed in the dock yesterday facing nine charges. He shares a home with Scott, who is on four charges including conspiracy and ongoing supply, allegedly dealing in amphetamines for financial reward.
Both Bright and Scott have been charged with the supply of 27.26 grams of amphetamines between May 29 and June 5.
Bright has been charged over that amount and smaller amounts ranging from 5.5g on May 19, 4.8g on May 20 and 24.23g between June 12 and 18, all offences alleged to have occurred in Bathurst.
Bright has also been charged over conspiracy to supply amphetamines with another defendant Matthew John Oakford, 36, of Lambert Street, Bathurst between May 14 and July 11.
Kerr, of Havannah Street, Bathurst is facing nine charges similar to Bright and conspiracy.
The court heard yesterday that Oakford was still on parole from the District Court when he applied for bail.
But bail was refused by magistrate Thomas Hodgson who told Oakford he was no different to the other defendants allegedly caught by approved police telephone taps.
Schofield, of Larson Street, Bathurst is facing four counts and is alleged to have conspired with Kerr between July 2 and 3 to supply methamphetamine, supply ecstasy on May 19 and possession of a small amount of amphetamines on July 11.
Charges related to cultivation of cannabis have also laid against Schofield.
Somer, of Pioneer Street, aside from allegedly conspiring to supply amphetamines has been charged over the alleged supply of 7.5 grams of amphetamines on June 20 and possession of 2.2 grams of amphetamines on July 10, all offences allegedly committed in Bathurst.
