Mark William Gill claimed that he paid for and owned two pythons seized when police executed a search warrant on 53 Carlingford Street, South Bathurst on November 8, 2006.
Gill was before the Local Court on Monday opposing a police application to dispose of the two snakes. He told magistrate Thomas Hodgson that police had previously attempted to pursue allegations he’d stolen the pythons.
Gill maintained he paid for the snakes when he defended the case from the dock at the Bathurst Court House. He told Mr Hodgson there should be a hearing, which has been set for March 10, 2009.
The police application before the court to dispose of the snakes outlined how Gill had been arrested after the Go Lo store fire and theft of $16,890, for which Gill and accomplices had been gaoled.
