Businesses throughout the CBD yesterday adopted a variety of themes for Crazy Day. Colorado manager Josh Esparon, resplendent as a rabbit, said there were a lot of bargain hunters around.
“We had a lot of non-regular customers come in and footwear was particularly popular,” he said.
Spotlight manager Cheryl Guy said everyone in the store was crazy, “just like normal”.
“We’ve had Marilyn Monroe, two rather strange gypsies, a couple of fairies, a clown and some who are just plain crazy out-of-the-wardrobe,” she said.
Western Advocate sales manager Rochelle Cummings said a number of new businesses were involved in this year’s Crazy Day, including Bathurst City Centre, W J Coote & Sons and Leading Edge Electronics.
“We would also like to thank those who have participated since the day’s inception for their support,” she said.
People who have winning scratchie tickets have until 1pm today to collect their prizes from the Western Advocate office.
Daffodil Cottage will benefit from funds raised during the day through collection tins in businesses and from a collection undertaken by Western Advocate staff who were out on the streets. The amount will be tallied on Monday.
