CSU will be hoping youthful exuberance can help them overcome an experienced unit in Central West Rugby Union tomorrow when the students host defending champions the Narromine Gorillas.

While the Gorillas are well respected for their fast back line and determination at the breakdown, CSU hope a fresh face or two might just be the catalyst for them to post an upset win at University Oval.
Zander Williment will be one of those players hoping to have a big impact on the game.
The first year advertising/marketing CSU student has risen through the ranks at an rapid rate this season and has now earned his second run in top team.
“I stared in the colts team and got a couple of runs in the second half coming on in the second grade team,” he said.
“I think after a couple of injuries I got the call up to firsts a couple of weeks ago against the Dubbo ’Roos.
“I had a ball out on the field that day, I got rag dolled a couple of times but then I got into it a bit more, got a few pilfers and enjoyed myself. I got voted by the boys as players’ player which was good.”
Originally from Avalon on the Northern Beaches, Williment has been playing rugby for 15 years and had no hesitation in joining the CSU club for season 2010.
“I had a couple of mates up here and heard they had a good rugby union team here,” he said.
“The rugby club is one of the best things about uni life, the social feeling and playing is all good.”
Ahead of his second game in first grade, a humble Williment said he knew his time in first grade maybe limited and so he needed to play at his best every week.
“I got called up for the experience and I’m just playing the best footy I can and am just seeing what comes of it,” he said.
“I’m just looking to make the most of my opportunities and play good footy.”
With the club riding on a wave of confidence midway through the season, Williment said the students would be aiming high for the rest of the year.
“Things have been pretty good being on top of the Club Championship and it is something all of the grades are trying to work towards [maintaining],” he said.
“It is good being at the top of the ladder and hopefully we can work on staying there until the end of the season.”
Tomorrow CSU will be out to exact some revenge against Narromine after the defending premiers soundly beat them 31-12 in the opening round of the competition.
In that game Narromine dominated the early territorial battle, opened the scoring mid-way through the half and backed that up with another converted try and a penalty close to the break to give themselves a 17-0 lead at half-time.
The students showed promise in the second half to procure two tries, including one to debutante winger Sam Coote.
But while many of the students expect a massive challenge against Narromine, Williment admitted he would go into the match with the same mind set as any other game.
“To tell you the truth I don’t know much about Narromine,” he said.
“I’ll just be going into it like any other match and will try to be switched on.
“I’ll be working more on my pilfering and being a menace around the ruck.”
