Timothy Jacob Heffernan, 29, was before the court pleading guilty to two of seven drug-related charges he faces following his arrest by police over the discovery of 1444.8 grams of cannabis, 45.5 grams of amphetamines, $2460 cash and possession of slingshots and a canister of oleoresin capsicum.

Lawyer Peter Nagle said Heffernan – who gave a Franklin Road, Orange address – was pleading guilty to possession of the cannabis and knowingly taking part in supply of amphetamines with other pleas to follow when the matter was mentioned for the first time at the Bathurst Court House.

Mr Nagle told magistrate Jan Stevenson he’d made representations to police negotiating on some of the other charges.

The lawyer said another substance had apparently been found at the site of a search carried out by police that had not been a prohibited drug.

Mr Nagle said Heffernan lived in Orange and wanted the case heard there.

The lawyer mentioned a charge of goods in custody related to an amount of about $2000 he said police had found, which would be discussed when representations were made on Heffernan’s behalf.

Police said in the seven charges that Heffernan allegedly had possession of 1444.8 grams of cannabis at Windradyne between 12.45pm and 2.25pm on December 15; had taken part in supply of prohibited drugs at the same time and date in possession of 45.5 grams of amphetamines; had knowingly taken part in supply of amphetamines; had possession of a prohibited weapon (two slingshots); and possession of a canister of oleoresin capsicum.

Ms Stevenson heard that police had yet to have the drugs analysed, when the matter was adjourned for further mention or plea on Tuesday, March 1.

Heffernan was allowed continuing bail.
