Codee Holmes, who suffers from an unknown illness, is currently in a coma in Westmead Children's Hospital.
Her mum Tanya said it is hard enough going through the trauma of having a sick child without worrying about how you are going to get them help in an emergency.
Orange City Council has kicked off a regional campaign and is calling on the communities of western NSW for support.
Areas covered by the helicopter are being invited to sign a petition demanding the government extend the Central West retrieval service to 24 hours as a matter of urgency.
Orange has already obtained more than 10,000 signatures, however, Bathurst is lagging well behind.
Mrs Holmes hopes that by personalising the issue local people will realise how vital it is for a service like this to be available to everyone.
