Studio: Australian Painters Photographed by R. Ian Lloyd takes the viewer on a behind-the-scenes photographic tour of a variety of Australian artists working in their studio environments.
It provides a unique insight into the minds, moods and creative processes of some of the nation’s most acclaimed painters.
Lloyd, who is renowned for his work with National Geographic, examines the fascinating detail of the individual artist’s space through large photographic portraits.
The exhibition features 61 Australian artists, including Marion Borgelt, Lucy Culliton, James Gleeson, Margaret Olley, John Olsen, Gloria Petyarre, Luke Sciberras, Tim Storrier, Imants Tillers, and Judy Napangardi Watson.
The second exhibition – The Great Divide – showcases the works of Genevieve Carroll, Janet Haslett and Julie Williams.
The trio has been drawing creative inspiration from the village of Hill End and its surrounds for almost a decade.
The exhibition explores the creative impacts that the village, and travels further afield, have had on their practices.
The exhibitions can be viewed at the gallery until September 25.
Friday’s opening will take place at 6pm.
