To coincide with the opening of Bathurst Regional Council’s new sustainable lifestyle home on Sunday, the Bathurst Community Climate Action Network (BCCAN) has devised a self-drive tour of other green buildings.
Follow the tour to explore some of Bathurst’s most environmentally-friendly projects.
A BCCAN member will be on hand at each location between 2pm and 4pm on Sunday to show visitors the green features of each building.
Five properties will be available for inspection, including council’s sustainable lifestyle house. From there, the tour stops at the new Central West Community College building in Howick Street.
The college boasts a range of green features, including double-glazed windows, energy efficient lighting, storm water harvesting and water saving devices. Next, take a trip along Eleven Mile Drive to see a straw bale house. This must-see building was constructed from natural materials, such as straw, clay and river stone.
The final two stops of the tour are in Raglan.
Designed by Jim Lavis, the sustainable homes are located at 18 Eugenie Street and 37 Godfrey Street.
Council’s new sustainable lifestyle home, will be open from 10am to 4pm. The BCCAN self-drive tour will take place from 2 pm until 4 pm.
