The Centre has just been named a five-star water safety partner as a result of a Royal Life Saving audit on the local recreational facility.
The initiative has been developed to identify aquatic venues that have met stringent compulsory safety benchmarks relating to unstructured aquatic activity at the time of audit.
According to Alison Middleton from Royal Life Saving, participating swimming pools have been deemed compliant against 40 pre-determined aquatic safety criteria, demonstrating a strong commitment to aquatic safety standards.
“The 40 aquatic safety criteria have been sourced from the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operation (GSPO),” she said. “The GSPO were established in consultation with industry and other expert personnel and are subject to ongoing review and formal evaluation.
“The guidelines for safe pool operation take a risk management approach to areas such as general and technical operations of pools, first aid, facility design, supervision and swimming programs.”
Ms Middleton encouraged all schools and the community to seek out swimming pools who display the Five Star Water Safety Partner logo.
Aquatic centre manager Ollie Barclay said they are proud to have achieved the five-star rating.
“We recognise the importance of ensuring a safe aquatic environment for our clientele, especially those children participating in unstructured aquatic activities,” he said.
