The new-look Heritage Park has a nine hole, 18 tee golf course, Bathurst’s only mini putt putt golf course, a coffee shop and soccer field.
Les Merton of Heritage Park said the vision is now coming to fruition. “We knew the improvements we wanted to make but if we knew they were going to cost what they have, the work may not have happened,” he said.
“The landscaping exercise is the most expensive I have ever encountered and the course has cost us more $500,000.
“The facilities out here are great and the golf course, which has an extensive underground watering system, is one of the best people will play on.
“Some holes have water features – this is not a paddock, it is a really good golf course.”
The nine hole, 18 tee course is a par 72 and hole six is the real challenge.
“It is a 200 metre par three with a 40m by 30m green and its the best hole of the course – people who want a challenge need to come out and play on our golf course,” Mr Merton said.
“Reece Hodson, who is the current A grade club champion at the Bathurst Golf Course and his father Bruce, who was a professional golfer and helped design the Riverside Oaks course, designed and built our golf course.”
The course, when finished will have a pro shop, practise green and go karts, complete with driving range.
Of the 5000 acres at Heritage Park the mini golf course and golf course have been the latest works.
The putt putt is ready to play, but the golf course will not be ready until December 4.
“Our opening day of the golf course is the charity golf day we are holding to raise money for local couple Terry and Lyall Saddler’s nephew, who is battling leukaemia,” Mr Merton said.
