MacKillop College has won bragging rights for 2011, with two students – Emily Barlow and Emily Heffernan – yesterday making the list that features the name of all students to achieve Band 6 (90 per cent or better) results in 10 or more units of study.
The other local all-rounders were St Stanislaus’ College student Patrick Bowman, who scored Band 6 results in a remarkable 15 units, and All Saints’ College boarder Amanda Burbidge.
But yesterday’s release of HSC results means the wait is only half-over for many students who will today receive their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR), which will help them decide what to do next year.
All local schools were yesterday happy with their HSC results.
Bathurst High relieving principal Gaye Dunshea said 135 students sat this year’s exams and had put in an enormous effort.
“We’ve had a number of Band 5s and Band 6s. We’re really pleased for our students,” Ms Dunshea said yesterday.
“They have put in an enormous effort.”
Some of the school’s top performers include David Jewkes, Brianna Wade, Richard Murray, Georgia Gardner, Trinity Gurich, Rebecca Hall and Anna Leckie.”
Joe Denyer-Simmons has been included in the ARTEXPRESS exhibition for his video Street Dreams, while Dale Campbell was nominated for the DesignTech industrial technology exhibition.
Kelso High student Evan Stroeve was his school’s top performer, picking up six Band 6 results and one Band 5. Principal Keith Peasley congratulated all 70 students.
Jarrod Grabham achieved one Band 6 and four Band 5 results; Nicholas Leek earned five Band 5s; Jessica Smith received one Band 6 and four Band 5s; William Horspool gained three Band 5s and a Band 6.
Hayden Fulthorpe and Jessica Smith both received a Band 6 in industrial technology, with Hayden’s work also shortlisted for DesignTech.
All Saints’ College head of school Peter Miller was also pleased with his students’ results, especially Amanda Burbidge’s inclusion on the all-rounders’ list. Kate Loneragan (Bathurst) scored Band 6 in eight units and Hannah Guest (O’Connell) scored Band 6 in seven units.
Jess Carter (Nyngan) and Will McAloney (Bathurst) each scored Band 6 results in six units.
Scots School headmaster David Gates said most of their students had reached their personal goals and several had already been accepted into university courses.
Hannah Schulz was the school’s top performer, picking up Band 6 results in 2-unit maths, biology and Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE).
Kalyan Manning, a Year 11 student who sat the HSC on an accelerated program, achieved Band 6 results in Extension 1 and 2 maths, while school captain Millaine Longmore picked up Band 6 results in general maths and music extension.
Other students to pick up Band 6s were Elliot Chew, Rui Hang Hou, Christopher Squire, Alayne White, Nikki Butler and Georgina Porter.
And in creative arts, Blake McCarthy has been shortlisted for the DesignTech exhibition and Emily Mair has been short-listed for the Call Back performance exhibition.
