The band has started a campaign get inactive players in the community to make a comeback with the band.
Conductor Mathias Rogala-Koczorowski said he suspected there were a number of musicians around Bathurst who were not exercising their skills and who would love to get involved again.
“Many of our current personnel are deeply grateful for having been lured, coaxed or cajoled into coming back to playing after having dropped out, sometimes for a long period, because of the demands of study, work or child rearing,” Mr Rogala-Koczorowski said.
“It is so easy to keep putting off getting back into it, despite really wanting to.
“So it’s good to have a spur, because people find that music is a really worthwhile creative and relaxing recreation to help balance the stresses of their busy lives.”
Mr Rogala-Koczorowski said the City and RSL band offered a friendly and cooperative environment for instrumentalists.
The membership comes from all walks of life and age groups.
“Everyone is welcome, irrespective of their playing level,” Mr Rogala-Koczorowski said.
“This ranges from the very advanced players, some with professional experience, some working as music teachers, who provide leadership and inspiration, to more humble amateurs, recent adult beginners, uni students and school kids.”
The band plays at a number of Bathurst events each year, including Proclamation Day, Anzac Day and Remembrance Day.
The Bathurst City and RSL Concert Band rehearses each Wednesday from 7pm-9 pm at the band hall at Walmer Park, off Bradwardine Drive, West Bathurst.
Prospective players are welcome to just roll up on a Wednesday night to give it a try.
