The Autumn Fundraiser will assist BILS in providing valuable services to young people with disabilities in the Bathurst region.
Committee member Harold Ford recently sought assistance from Councillor Bobby Bourke, who offered to host a special day to help raise much-needed funds.
“Some of the previously accessible funding for our programs is no longer available,” Mr Ford said. “We are a not-for-profit charity organisation and therefore we need to run fundraising programs in order to meet our commitment to these young people.
Drop into the Community Op Shop, located near the Cooke Hockey Complex, from 8.30am to find books, plants, clothing, local honey, preserves, bric a brac, furniture and more.
Cr Bourke said prices would be slashed on Saturday to attract the crowds. All profits from the day will be donated to BILS.
“Most items will be under priced, so come along and pick up a bargain to support this cause,” he said. “It doesn’t hurt us to do this sort of thing. It’s about helping the community.”
A load of firewood and several minor prizes will be raffled on the day. Tickets cost $2 each. South Bathurst Butcher has also come on board, so people can grab a snag from the barbecue.
The Bathurst Macquarie Lions flea markets will also operate across the road in Berry Park.
The day will be run similar to last year’s Queensland floods fundraiser, which raised more than $1400. The community is invited to donate pre-loved goods to the cause. Contact Bobby Bourke on 0416 207 370 or Harold Ford on 0435 146 335 to arrange free pick-up.
