About Our Client

Australian Leukaemia & Lymphoma Group is a not-for-profit clinical trial organisation that open about 7-8 new trials per year. This means that they contract with approximately 8-10 pharmaceutical companies per year for the supply of quantities of their medicine(s) to use in clinical trials and; the provision of funds to support the core activities to coordinate the clinical trial.

Job Description

As the contracts lead, you will be personally responsible for:

  • Providing professional working knowledge of commercial contract terms to assist with the review of ALLG's agreements. A working knowledge of Intellectual Property and IP ownership provisions would be desirable, however given the specifics of the work, much of this can be learnt by a good candidate who has a desire to learn.
  • Develop a drafting and negotiation strategy that delivers appropriate solutions for ALLG and ALLG's members interests. They are looking for a candidate who can add strategic value to contract negotiations (protecting and promoting ALLG's interests).
  • Work closely with a range of internal and external collaborators to coordinate all contractual activities.
  • Candidate can track and keep record of work in progress.
  • Coordinate contracts for ALLG trials including liaising with pharmaceutical companies, other funding bodies, international coordinating centres, clinical trial suppliers and service providers.
  • Responsible for a variety of contracts: funding agreements, grant agreements, service provider agreements, clinical trial research agreements, confidentiality disclosure agreements.
  • Review supplier terms and conditions.
  • Maintain contractual records and documentations and control all contract correspondence, contacts, contractual changes and variations.
  • Maintain and update contract templates.
  • Ensure timely contract close-out, extension or renewal.
  • Manage standard research contracts from initial negotiation with external partners to execution and seek external legal advice when required.
  • Assess requirements for legal and administrative contracts management.
  • Streamline work flows in keeping with approval pathways and delegate authority provide prompt notifications to stakeholders (ALLG staff and members) to review, approve or sign at the right time so contracts keep moving in required time lines.
  • Familiarity with international commercial contracts particularly issues of the general law of contract (formation, interpretation, third party rights, the duty of good faith and fair dealing, obligations, international dispute resolution, termination)

The Successful Applicant

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in procurement, commercial and contractual activities, preferably gained in research and/or medical industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong communication and people skills to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders, as well as suppliers and funding partners.
  • Excellent communication skills and is team-player.
  • Existing knowledge of contract language.
  • Ability to negotiate.
  • Contemporary contract and negotiation skills and knowledge.
  • Bachelor of Business, Commerce, Law, or equivalent other.
  • Minimum 3-year experience in contract & commercial roles.

What's on Offer

  • Not-for-profit employees can package up to $15,900 every year, which is the maximum capped amount. Salary packaging is an option. For those that do use it, you will only pay tax on the remaining portion of your salary, significantly reducing your taxable income.
  • Working remotely and 3 days a week.
  • Package of $90,000-95,000 on offer
  • 17% superannuation.
  • Be apart of the only not-for-profit committed to clinical research in Australia and New Zealand designing and conducting independent clinical trials for the treatment of blood cancers.
