A TEENAGE boy was airlifted to Westmead Children’s Hospital yesterday with suspected spinal injuries after crashing in a motocross event at Mount Panorama.

The 13-year-old was competing in the second round of the Beard Brothers Series, hosted by the Panorama Motorcycle Club at McPhillamy Park when he collided with another motobike rider.
The crash occurred just after 12.20pm.
Paramedics arrived at the scene to treat the victim who was complaining of severe lower back pain.
Suspecting spinal injuries paramedics called in the air ambulance which landed at Mount Panorama a short time later.
The teenager was airlifted to Westmead Children’s Hospital where he was reported to be in a stable condition yesterday.
Yesterday’s crash was the second major incident attended by paramedics at mount Panorama yesterday. Earlier in the day they were called to a separate incident where two people competing in Newton’s Nation were injured in a skateboarding event.
Paramedics were called to Brock’s Skyline just before 11am, after two men came off their skateboards at the starting lineup.
As a result the two men were transported to Bathurst Base Hospital for treatment.
The more seriously injured of the two, a 17-year-old man suffered a suspected fracture to his hand, the nature of the second man’s injuries was unknown.
Both men were reported to be in a stable condition yesterday.
