Staff and students from Celia’s former primary and secondary schools were joined by fans of the show at Red Bend Catholic College just before lunchtime today.
During the visit Celia was welcomed back to the college by Deputy Principal Stephen Dwyer.
He described Celia as a student who “blessed us all” with her talents and was known for being genuine and kind.
Mayor of Forbes Shire Council, Ron Penny, presented Celia with a key to the community.
He then encouraged all present to “pick up the phone and dial Celia”.
During the visit Ms Goodrem described Celia as being “the easiest person to coach on the show”.
“As you say, [Celia] is a genuine person and a wonderful person,” Ms Goodrem said.
Celia encouraged other students not to be shy and to believe in themselves, and thanked all present for their support.
While on stage Celia performed her own song ‘Candle in the night’ and ‘Will you still love me tomorrow’.
Celia and Ms Goodrem also performed Ms Goodrem’s hit song ‘Sitting on top of the world’ as a duet.
The pair then signed autographs for those present before departing the college for a private luncheon with Celia’s family.
Votes for Celia can be made by phoning 1902 55 95 02 or texting ‘Celia’ to 199 55 999 or downloading ‘Candle in the night’ or ‘Xanadu’ from iTunes.
