MACKILLOP College's dedication to producing well-rounded young women has paid off, with students achieving some impressive results across the board in this year's Higher School Certificate.
Ninety students completed their HSC this year. Their efforts yielded more than 200 band fives and sixes their band sixes were spread across 15 subjects.
Principal Maureen Moore said the college community was proud to see 25 per cent of this year's group listed on the state's Distinguished Achievers List.
"We were really happy to see the band sixes in core areas such as English and mathematics. Ancient history was also very strong and, in the sciences, the girls did particularly well in biology," she said. "Impressively, Harriet Crowley scored band sixes in nine of her units. Rebecca Mackay, Michaela O'Connor and our college captain Julia O'Shea were also high achievers."
Ms Moore said the college's tour to Europe earlier this year was enriching for students.
Julia who achieved band sixes in English (advanced), studies of religion (2 unit) and modern history said her experience on the tour had a significant impact on her studies.
"I think that's definitely what I have to credit my modern history mark to," she said. "It really brought to life what we were doing in the classroom. Once we got back, everything made more sense. It was the highlight of the year."
The college's other achievements included Fern-Alice Finn's inclusion in DesignTECH for her major work, a hammock made from neck ties.
Alison Burgess received a band six in visual arts.
