A 35-year-old Lithgow woman was left red-faced on Saturday afternoon after a parking mishap at Bathurst's Aldi supermarket on Russell Street.
The woman attracted plenty of unwanted attention when her car plunged over a concrete ledge in the car park.
But while there were only a handful of witnesses to the unfortunate event, photos of the crash became something of a social media sensation across the weekend.
First the photos were posted on local Facebook page BathurstScan.com and, from there, they were picked up by Sydney radio station Triple-M.
Triple-M posted the photos on the website of their popular sports program The Grill Team, featuring broadcaster Gus Worland and former league legends Mark Geyer and Matthew Johns.
By late yesterday, The Grill Team's post had been shared more than 850 times and been "liked" by almost 6000 people.
Bathurst police yesterday shed some light on the incident.
They said the woman, who was driving a silver Toyota Prado 4WD, attempted to brake but hit the accelerator instead, causing the 4WD to lurch forward.
She lost control of the vehicle and it mounted the gutter and crashed through a safety fence.
The vehicle became stuck when the front end dropped over a concrete ledge and tilted forward.
The accident happened around 2pm. Fortunately she was not injured, however, it took three hours to release the car.
As a result of the incident the car was extensively damaged.
