Five-year-old Buttons calls Stewart Street Veterinary Hospital home, and he is a favourite of the clinic’s visitors.
Veterinarian Dr Kate Ireland said she was excited that Buttons had scored so highly from the 220 entries received in the annual competition.
“We’re very proud of him, we love him,” she said.
Dr Ireland said Buttons was given a winner’s trophy and sash at a morning tea presentation yesterday.
“He celebrated with gourmet tuna cat flakes for morning tea,” she said.
All clinic cats entered in the competition appeared online during the voting stages, along with a profile.
Each cat was required to list its favourite things, and for Button food was rated number one.
“Mince, smooching with clients and having selfies, playing with pens, sleeping in the in-tray, guarding the front door and welcoming clients, sharing staff birthday celebrations, but not getting any cake,” were listed as his other favourite things.
Each cat’s naughty habits were also listed in their profile, and Dr Ireland said Buttons had a few.
Buttons received more than 200 votes during competition, putting him in equal first place with Hector from Heights Pet Hospital in Singleton.
“He’s pretty proud and can’t wait for next year,” Dr Ireland said.
