DIAS merged with Disability Advocacy NSW on July 1 as its new Central West agency.
DIAS’s long-term manager Sue Smidt said it was an important move for the service.
“With the National Disability Insurance Scheme to rollout in the Central West from July 2017, the DIAS management decided to approach Disability Advocacy NSW with a view of merging with them to ensure continuation and consolidation of the service well into the future,” Ms Smidt said.
Disability Advocacy NSW is based in the Hunter region, the site for the first NDIS trial .
There are also offices in the New England and on the Mid North Coast.
“In joining with DANSW, our service is strengthened and gains the advantage of DA’s broad experience in the new era of the NDIS,” Ms Smidt said. “The team are looking forward to an exciting future.”
Disability Advocacy NSW CEO Mark Grierson welcomed the DIAS team.
“Our aim is to support the Central West advocates to concentrate on their key role of getting a fair go for people with a disability and growing and improving the service as opportunities arise,” Mr Grierson said.
