With flooding in nearby Forbes causing havoc for the locals, the Eugowra showground has also been severely affected by the heavy rain and with no sign of a significant break in the weather in the short term, an early decision has been made in the best interest of participants.
“The Eugowra meeting has become an important annual event as the first of the TAB.COM.AU Carnival Of Cups meetings for the season,” HRNSW Chief Executive John Dumesny said.
“With the weather pattern creating a once in a century event the rain is causing havoc for plenty of people across the entire state let alone in the central west.”
The Eugowra Club Committee made an application to HRNSW to call off Monday’s meeting because of the condition of the showground and the governing body acceded to that request.
Mr Dumesny confirmed a meeting will now be run at Bathurst on Monday of the long weekend.
“To keep faith with the trainers in the central west that have been able to continue working their horses during this period, a new TAB.COM.AU Championship will be held with the heats drawn for this Wednesday (transferred from Eugowra last Sunday) and a $12,000 final at Bathurst next Monday.”
